Hi there,
Just want to encourage you all to keep your vehicles, garages and homes LOCKED up tight.
We discovered yesterday evening that of 1 our cars had been "went through" and items were taken/stolen.
Yesterday afternoon as I left to take Dakota to a doctor appt, I saw that my driver side door was ajar and when I got into the car I saw that the items from the glove box and center counsel thingy were all over. I assumed that either Andrew or Emily needed something in a hurry and planned to ask them to pick up the mess later that evening.
By the time I got home from the doctor's office, Emily was on her way to work so I didn't get to ask her about it until she got home about 10pm, and I asked Andrew shortly after he got home.....Anyway it turns out neither of them got into my car....so then we started looking and realized someone must have gotten into it and also realized that things were taken.
We are big time door/car lockers and are shocked this happened, but then I remembered my lock-remote was not working good Tuesday when I took Dakota to the doctors...so we assume that I thought I locked my car Monday evening but the remote battery really was not working then and I didn't notice, as I was on my way in with Dakota and a few bags from Target.
We had an officer come out last night and he said that on Tuesday they started receiving calls at 5:30am thru the rest of the day from people in our area noticing that their cars and garages had been went through....he said all were unlocked. (In our case our other car, garage and home were locked and none of them were touched.) The officer also mentioned that an unlocked garage on our street was went through.
Please don't be an easy victim, lock up your possessions every day/evening.
It feels horrible to know someone was going through our car. I can't imagine how it would feel to know they were going through my garage and scary to think, the next step is/could easily be people's homes that they are going through.
Anyway we just want to warn you, as Midland is a super safe city and has very low crime, but things do still happen in "safe" cities, etc.
Be safe!
